As we pursue “The Practical Mystic,”
a definition of what we are pursuing will be helpful.
So here we go:
Mystic: a person who claims to
attain, or believes in the possibility of attaining,
insight into mysteries transcending ordinary human
knowledge, as by direct communication with the divine
or immediate intuition in a state of spiritual ecstacy.
Mystical: of, relating to, or resulting
from an individual’s direct communion with
God or ultimate reality.
Practical: concerned with the application
of knowledge to useful ends, as distinguised from
theory, speculaton, etc.
From these dictionary definitions we come to our
description of what it is we are searching for:
The Practical Mystic:
The person who believes in attaining insight into
unseen mysteries, and yet is able to live in the
real world, and apply those mysteries to everyday
living.
