Have you seen God in the daylight?
Sneaking up behind you in plain sight
Running through fields and laughing
Climbing trees and floating down the streams
Have you seen God in the daylight?
Have you seen God
in the twilight?
Playing hide and seek in the lengthening shadows
Darting through clouds in the sunset
Making faces in trees and hillsides
Have you seen God in the twilight?
Have you seen God
in the night time?
Winking at you through flick'ring starlight
Dancing on waters and leaping
Over hills and through the valleys
Have you seen God in the night time?
Have you seen God
in the sunrise?
Peeking gently over the horizon
Soaring on breezes and whispering
In the rustling leaves and grasses
Have you seen God in the sunrise?
* For those of you who need a clearer
explanation of my theology after reading this song
- here goes, short and simple. No, I am not a pantheist
(everything is God), nor a panentheist (God is in
everything). I believe that God created all things,
and that everything in His creation has some imprint
of His personality upon it, and expresses something
about Him. I also believe that this is why so many
of us feel closer to God when we are in the mountains,
or by the seaside. Without necessarily being able
to articulate our experience, perhaps not even knowing
why we feel like we do, we sense the goodness of
the Creator of the Universe through our sensual
interaction with His creation.
