Come in
Out of the rain, he cried
Come in
Come in
Make yourself dry, he said
Come in
The darkening skies of Fall
Make a call to my soul
Back home
Wrap up
Sit by the fire awhile
Wrap up
Wrap up
This Fall brings a gentle smile
Wrap up
The darkening skies of Fall
Make a call to my soul
Back home
It's late. Shortly before midnight,
in this 4th day of November, and no, it's not yesterday's
election on my mind. Rather the gentleness of the
coming of this current Autumn has attracted my attention.
I had to run outside in my robe for
a moment about 45 minutes ago to check on the trailer.
I love rain, and going out and getting a bit wet,
and chilly wasn't a problem. (Of course, that's
what my Gortex hat is for.)
I sit now, typing at the computer,
and listening to the rain pattering on the skylight
above my desk.
The above words were written as a
short song - a meditation. I've been writing short
meditations lately. They are simply quick toughts
with gentle guitar parts. This meditation considers
the impact Fall has upon my soul. It causes me to
love being home more than any other season. It seems
to call me inside toward crackling fires, and warm
drinks.
God has that same impact upon my soul.
This is why the person calling in this song is given
a masculine personality. Normally in a song like
this Mom would be calling us inside out of the cold,
but I wanted to attribute that same call back home
which comes from mothers, and the gentle arrival
of Autumn to our Father in Heaven, He calls our
souls to the warmth of His love, and invokes a comforted
smile upon our faces.
