Why and How we Serve

How We Attempt to Touch People's Hearts for God:
The Gathering is a church, but it is more than that. We are a postmodern evangelism training and outreach center in downtown Salem, MA. We love the city of Salem, and seek to be a benefit to it by whatever means possible.
The arts, dream interpretation, spiritual counseling, music, movie nights, and philosophy discussion groups are some the means we attempt to interface with the North Shore of Boston.
We have been able to expand our outreach during Halloween to include the largest stage in town, dozens of spiritual adivisors offering encouragement to people, and workshops on spiritual issues. This outreach from The Gathering is a mission field within the boundaries of the U.S. Our dream is to take this model around the world to other festivals.
Thes are just a few of the things your giving and prayer helps to support.

Beliefs of The Gathering:

We the members of The Gathering are followers of the ancient traditions of Jesus of Nazareth. We follow Him as the only Savior of Humanity. We understand Him as the Creator of the Universe, existing in tri-unity with the Father and the Spirit. Through His work on the cross we believe that we have forgiveness of sin, and a direct, unmediated relationship with God.

We believe in a mystical connection between God, and all true followers of the Nazarene. This connection gives us access to hear His voice, and experience His power as it flows through us to serve others.

It is our goal to share our experience, and our insight with others through acts of love and kindness, through our skills and artistic abilities, and through prophetic words of wisdom. It is our conviction that all people can benefit from the wisdom, and power found in the ancient ways of the Nazarene.

Our Vision:

We choose to walk in the way Lion, the Serpent, and the Dove. We will act with the Boldness of the Lion, the subtlety of the Serpent, and the Innocence of the Dove, and this will be our path of service to the world. These patterns are given to us by Solomon - King of Israel, and Jesus the Nazarene.

"The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion." (Solomon in Proverbs 28:1)

"so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves." (Jesus in Matthew 10:16)
